Levon Chilingirian was a noted musicologist and choirmaster in the Armenian communities of Baku, Smyrna, and Istanbul. (Note, the Armenian community of Smyrna / Izmir was decimated by the Turks). He is noted as the first to introduce the organ to Armenian church music.
